A Region Rich in History

Rich in History

Romsey, settled in the mid-1800s alongside the Five Mile Creek, is surrounded by fertile farmland. The earliest cottage, built by Sidney Seymour, still stands and is preserved by the local historical society, making it a must-visit while you're here. The streetscape of Romsey is known for its character and turn-of-the-century houses, featuring early Australian architecture. The Mechanics Institute and the Neighbourhood Centre are just a few examples of the excellent architecture you can admire.

Romsey was originally known as the "food basket" for travellers en route to the gold fields in the mid-to-late 1800s. Today, the village still offers a diverse variety of thriving providores, family-friendly eateries, cafés, and bars, making it an ideal spot to relax and indulge. You can also explore an eclectic mix of quaint shops for some retail therapy. It's easy to spend a day or two here..
